Q: How
do I set the compression and decompression with the DVRex?
A: The DVRex is a combination
hardware and software CODEC product. In Rex Edit you can change how these CODECs
are used.
- Select Settings from
the Rex Edit toolbar.
- Select Properties of
DVRex
- Select Compression
- Select the compression
you need.
A hardware DV CODEC is faster
in rendering on slower machines. A software CODEC's performance is based on
the host CPU. The faster the CPU the better the rendering performance. A hardware
CODEC has a fixed performance regardless of the host CPU.
Adjust your settings based
on the following table:
- Use the software CODEC
for compression and decompression on 300MHz or faster machines.
- Use the software CODEC
for decompression and hardware CODEC for compression on 266MHz machines.
- Use the hardware CODEC
for compression and decompression on 233MHz or slower machines.
